The
most beautiful and unspoiled valleys of the High Atlas
Valley of Ourika rises gently up to the preliminary
hills of the High Atlas where small typical villages
have nested. It is a pure and magnificent place where
silence is only " disturbed " by birds singing, water
streams and wagtails. Ourika is famous for its
pottery,
minerals and crystal.
Setti
Fatma is at the end of the road through the Ourika
Valley. It is divided by the forceful river into two
parts. As you come up, there is a mud-brick village on
your right side. Across the river, are a number of cafés,
and paths leading up into the mountains, in order to
explore the water falls. There are seven waterfalls.
Ourika
is only a few mile from the famous ski resort of
Morocco called Oukaïmeden.
Oukaïmeden
and the areas around are some of the greatest in Morocco,
with four seasons, and ever changing nature. In summer,
few people enter this area — it is too well known for
winter sports, I guess. But staying here a day or two is
a real treat. Enjoying the luscious nature around you,
or setting out trekking in the mountains are both
excellent possibilities.
